Welcome to our travel adventure! Every year, my husband and I make it a point to escape on a vacation, and this year, we were thrilled to explore the stunning island of Jamaica. From the moment we arrived, we knew this trip would be something special. Let me take you along on our unforgettable journey through paradise!
Day 1: Arrival
Traveling to Jamaica for the first time was a dream come true—I had to pinch myself a few times just to make sure it was real! As soon as we stepped out of the airport, the tropical air hit us like a warm hug. My husband and I were both thrilled and a little overwhelmed—this was our first big international trip together! The airport was buzzing with energy, a mix of excited tourists and locals greeting each other with big smiles. After a not so smooth passage through customs, we were finally greeted by our driver, who said, “Welcome to Jamaica, man!”
The drive to our resort left me speechless—I couldn’t look away from the window! As a photographer at heart, I was glued to the scenes outside: lively streets, colorful buildings, and the ocean views that seemed to pop up around every corner. Our driver kept us entertained with stories about the island’s history and culture, leaving us eager to dive in and experience it all.
When we finally arrived at the Grand Palladium, our home for the next five days, it felt like we had stepped into paradise. The resort was absolutely stunning, with beautifully landscaped gardens and the sound of happy vacationers everywhere. We were greeted by our personal concierge who helped us settle in and made us feel right at home. That night, we took the opportunity to settle into our room, make a few reservations for our stay, explore the resort, and, of course, schedule an unforgettable excursion for the birthday boy.
Day Two: Let the adventure begin!
Day two of our stay was all about rest and relaxation. Typically, when we travel, we stay at an Airbnb, so we were a bit nervous about staying at a resort. We didn’t want to be overwhelmed by noise or the hustle and bustle, but friends, let me tell you how God came alllll the way through!
OK, CAN I TESTIFY?
Just two days before our trip, I called the agency to confirm our reservation. While checking our booking, the representative noticed it was our first time staying with the Grand Palladium family. That’s when they offered us an upgrade… AN UPGRADE! We went from staying in the already beautiful Junior Suite Oceanfront View to the Superior Junior Suite Private Pool Ocean View, which was on the member side, which not only allow us to have our own private pool, but privacy, very quiet. Nothing was left untouched. Everything we could have possibly thought of was provided. Whoever had the vision for that side of the villas, God bless you! Oh, and what kind of God would I serve if He didn’t show up and SHOW OUT? Because friend, guess what? We even ended up paying way less for our stay!
LET’S CONTINUE…DAY 2: RELAXATION
Every morning, I had a chance to sit on the porch, be in God’s presence, and gaze at the beautiful stunning blue ocean view. The sound of the waves and the gentle breeze on my face created the perfect backdrop as I read my Bible and meditated on the wonderful goodness of God. It was in that moment of peace and reflection that I found inspiration for the post, “The Gift of Rest: Pause, Breathe, Reconnect.” If you haven’t read it yet, I encourage you to do so after finishing this one.
After my peaceful morning, we enjoyed breakfast at one of the resort’s buffets, Negril, before going on a tour of the property. We then headed back to our room, ordered in, and spent the afternoon resting by the pool until dinner time. For dinner, we indulged in some authentic Jamaican cuisine at one of the resort’s restaurants. Guest what our favorite dishes were.
Day two was exactly what we needed—a day to pause, breathe, and reconnect with each other and with God, all while surrounded by the beauty of Jamaica.
Day 3: Happy Birthday to My Husband!
Day 3 was nothing short of spectacular—it was my husband’s birthday, and I was ready to make it unforgettable! Our day began with the ATV ride through the stunning Jamaican countryside—raw, untamed beauty everywhere we looked. The ATV ride was a blast, my husband favorite activity. I had the best seat in the house, riding as the “passenger princess” while my husband took charge of the wheel. The thrill of the ride left my husband grinning from ear to ear!
Next up was horseback riding, and it was just perfect! We took a lovely romantic two-mile ride back and forth, through charming trail and finally reaching a stunning spot by the ocean. When we got to the water, our horses went in, the fresh ocean water felt amazing, and every moment made me feel even more connected to Jamaica and its vibrant culture.
Celebrating my husband’s birthday with such exciting adventures, real local experiences, and the sweetest “jelly wata” made the day truly unforgettable. Our hearts were full, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day!
Day 4: BEACH DAY Bliss
We started our day with a delicious breakfast and then made our way to the gorgeous private adult-only beach.
The day was a perfect mix of relaxation and indulgence. We explored the beautiful sandy beach, dipped our toes in the crystal-clear, warm waters, and let the waves wash over us. Even though I was a bit bummed that I hadn’t thought to pack some equipment for some snorkeling underwater fun, but I still got a glimpse of the colorful fishes swimming nearby. Day 4 was all about soaking up the sun and enjoying the beach, and yes I did get sun burn, but no regrets!
Day 5: Hair, Packing, and More Rest!
Day 5 was all about pampering and unwinding. I treated myself to a much-needed hair appointment—after all that beach sand, my hair was ready for a little TLC! With my hair feeling refreshed, we spent the rest of the day just relaxing and enjoying the peaceful vibe of the resort.
For dinner, we decided to try out the hotel’s Asian-Japanese restaurant, wasn’t a fan. After dinner, we strolled back to our villa, taking in the vibrant live shows and entertainment happening around the resort. It was a great way to end the evening, soaking in the lively atmosphere and savoring our last moments in paradise.
Day 6: Jamaica Owes Us Nothing, But Gave Us Everything!
As we said our goodbyes on Day 6, I couldn’t help but reflect on how Jamaica had truly captured our hearts. The island welcomed us with open arms and gave us everything we could have wished for! Our first-time experience on this island was nothing short of magical! It was a journey packed with excitement—discovering a vibrant new culture, soaking in breathtaking natural beauty, refreshing piña coladas, every single moment was filled with pure joy and sharing these moments with my honey was just the cherry on top.
Jamaica owed us nothing, but it gave us everything—and for that, we are forever grateful. Until we see again, Jamaica!
