SheROSE: Finding Strength in the Journey

Life is a beautiful, fulfilling, and sometimes overwhelming journey. Name the hat, I wear it, I’ve experienced the joys and challenges that comes with each. There are days when everything seems to fall into place, and then there are days when it feels like nothing is going right. If you’re feeling tired, stretched thin, or just in need of some encouragement, this post is for you. I want to share a few stories, some advice, and a prayer that I hope will lift your spirits and remind you that you are not alone.

Story: The Day Everything Went Wrong

I remember one day vividly, the kind of day that starts with a spill and ends with tears. It began with my youngest knocking over a full glass of juice just as we were heading out the door. The morning rush was in full swing, and my patience was wearing thin. By the time we finally left the house, I realized we had forgotten a his backpack and lunchbox, which meant a U-turn and more chaos.

As the day unfolded, it seemed like everything that could go wrong did. I locked myself out of the house, with my phone locked in the car, leaving me unable to call my husband for help or let my clients know I was going to be late for our appointment. But what I remember most is the moment I took a deep breath, paused, and said a quick prayer. That pause didn’t change the circumstances, but it changed me—my mindset and my heart. I was reminded that even in the midst of a messy day, God is present, and His grace is sufficient. The day wasn’t perfect, but by leaning on His strength, I found the peace to keep going.

After my prayer, I noticed my trusty Apple Watch on my wrist. I got close enough to the car to send a text to my husband, letting him know his lovely wife had locked herself out and needed rescuing—my hero. After talking to my husband, I reached out to my sister and had her call my client to explain the situation. Once I had access to my phone again, I texted my accountability group with a hopeful message: “Something good is going to happen today.” And you know what? Something good did happen that night! Before you know it, a not so perfect day, and God’s limitless strength, I found the peace to keep going.

Advice: Embrace Imperfection and Lean on God

  1. Let Go of Perfection: It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking we need to have it all together. The truth is, none of us do, and that’s okay. Embrace the imperfections of life, and know that God doesn’t expect you to be perfect—He simply asks you to be faithful.
  2. Find Your Quiet Moment: Whether it’s early in the morning before the kids wake up or late at night after they’ve gone to bed, find a moment to be still and connect with God. Even a few minutes in prayer can refresh your spirit and give you the strength you need.
  3. Reach Out for Support: You’re not meant to do this alone. Surround yourself with a community of other imperfect people who understand what you’re going through. Share your struggles and victories with them, and don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it.
  4. Celebrate Small Wins: Life is full of small victories that often go unnoticed. Celebrate those moments, whether it’s remembering to get the backpack as you walk out of the door, a successful outing, or simply making it through the day. Recognizing these wins can help you stay positive and motivated.

A Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of life and the precious moments You have entrusted to us. On days when we feel overwhelmed and weary, remind us that Your strength is made perfect in our weakness. Help us to lean on You, to find peace in Your presence, and to trust in Your guidance.

Lord, give us patience when we are frustrated, courage when we are afraid, and joy in the midst of the chaos. May we always remember that You are with us, every step of the way, and that Your grace is enough for whatever we face.

Amen.

Conclusion:

Dear friend, keep pressing on, embrace the beauty in the chaos, and know that you are doing an incredible job. You’ve got this, and God’s got you!
